Security Resources

Strange Research is a strong supporter of Open systems and information. This is due to two primary factors, their immediate utility and the ability to reduce operational risk through their use. That is why we support the following projects/organisations by assisting them with our time, money, and/or moral endorsement(!).

OpenBSD - The ultra-secure, FREE, multi-platform 4.4BSD-based UNIX-like operating system.

OWASP - The Open Web Application Security Project, which is dedicated to finding and fighting the causes of insecure software. Jason is involved with the Edmonton Chapter.

WASC - The Web Application Security Consortium, an international group of experts, industry practitioners, and organisational representatives who produce open source and widely agreed upon best-practice security standards for the World Wide Web.

ISECOM (OSSTMM) - The Institute for Security and Open Methodologies is an open, collaborative, security research community whose focus is to apply critical thinking and scientific methodology to all facets of security. ISECOM hosts the Open Source Security Testing Methodology Manual (OSSTMM) project, a peer-reviewed methodology for performing security tests and metrics. Note: There are some ISECOM projects, such as the 'Hacker Profiling Project', that Strange Research feels lack value but, as always, YMMV.

StrangeResearch.com is hosted by identityVector Solutions.
